Small-Scale Wind Turbines in the Western Cape

Small wind turbines that generate at night and in winter, when solar can't, for farms and off-grid sites.

Overview

Power at night and in winter.

Solar produces nothing at night and less in a Western Cape winter. On the right site, a small wind turbine fills that gap. Wind only makes sense where the wind is strong and steady, so we start with a site assessment: exposure, obstructions and the local wind resource. If the numbers work, we design a hybrid system where the turbine and solar panels feed the same battery bank, which means fewer dead hours and a smaller battery than solar alone would need. If they don't work, we'll tell you and recommend a system that does.

Who it's for

Farms, rural homes and off-grid sites in exposed, windy locations, especially along the coast and in the Overberg.

What's included

  • Site and wind-resource assessment
  • Hybrid solar and wind systems
  • Off-grid and remote sites
  • Battery storage pairing

FAQs

Small-Scale Wind Energy questions

Is small-scale wind worth it in Cape Town?

Only on sites with strong, consistent wind and few obstructions. Many suburban sites don't qualify. We assess your site first and will recommend solar and storage instead if wind won't pay off.
